In the current Long-Distance Fishing Port or Codfish Harbour (as it is called by many), located in Gafanha da Nazaré, Ílhavo, there are shipowners’ companies with their respective vessels and warehouses, processing industries and a specialized fish unloading terminal.
The history associated with the place, the social and economic impact at regional and national level and the fact that it is the only specialized port for cod fishing in Portugal still in operation, give it its uniqueness and its identity mark.
