Frozen Greenland

One of SKREI Convention artists in residence, Héctor Zamora, is working on an installation using the architectural elements of the  Maritime Museum of Ílhavo to explore the traditional Portuguese cod drying methods, the movements and rhythms of the work of the women who did the job, the songs that animated the daily life of a hard and intense process.

Singer: Prazeres Bola, Translation: Héctor Zamora
In frozen Greenland
Cod ships
with its dorys fishing
with its great sailors
always rowing, rowing.

We never feel the night
not even the moonlight
we only saw cold saws
continued auroras
and hearts to cry.
Cod ships
with its dorys fishing
with its great sailors
always rowing, rowing.

We never feel the night
not even the moonlight
we only saw cold saws
continued auroras
and the hearts crying
and seals by the sea.
