Skrei Convention project aims to bring together existing knowledge about cod as a natural resource, fishing practices, trade, preservation methods, cuisine, gastronomy and much more. As part of the project, three artist residencies have been developed as well as a Festival and Conference. Check here the events and projects.

ARTIST RESIDENCIES

We employed three international artists to create culinary, experimental performances with and for local communities which highlight the relevance of stockfish and klippfish within their historic and contemporary social, economic and environmental context. The artists will actively work with the local community, hosting events, performances and engaging individuals in debate. A specially designed pop-up kitchen will help to facilitate such events in different settings.

SKREI CONVENTION CONFERENCE and FESTIVAL

From the 12-15 October 2019 we invited cod-enthusiasts, foodies, researchers, museums, artists and anyone interested to Kabelvåg, Lofoten, to celebrate Arctic cod and to discuss historic trading routes, European values and marine sustainability in an age of climate change. We also debated the opportunity to establish an international cod-route.
